Exquisite Corpse is an artistic game that traces its roots to the Parisian Surrealist Movement. This collaborative approach, when applied to poetry, allows each contributor to add to the verse only by reading the line before it. Exquisite Corpse was a BLAST at our last Writer's Club! It’s such an interesting way to watch how words and poetry can travel, like this whole group collaboration, which ended in a decidedly darker place than it began.
the warmth from the heater warms my toes
and the glitter continues to glow
all over my clothes
were wet with water
the slippy water
felt smooth and dry
just like walking on sand
I drifted across the dance floor
and made my way to the dessert table
seeing the cakes, chocolate, and candy all over
burnt and black like my heart
bright and red like my heart
it feels so dark and cold
like I could die this instant,
like I'm being strangled.
